Duncanville ISD Common Theme at Chamber Event

Community and business leaders gathered to “Celebrate Duncanville” at the Duncanville Chamber of Commerce annual awards dinner and State of the City address on January 21, and Duncanville ISD has close ties to several of the evening’s honorees. From past graduates to current district parents and staff members, Duncanville ISD took the stage! Chamber Entrepreneur of the Year – Duncanville High School graduate Dr. Andy Lee, pictured here with his wife, is the owner of Total Eye Care on Hwy 67.
Mayor’s Award – The Cake Guys, Chad Fitzgerald (Duncanville High School teacher) and Edward Navejas. During his acceptance speech, Chad encouraged audience members to support our public schools and invest in the students of Duncanville ISD, just as they would their own businesses. Chad was also a final four contestant on this season’s Next Great Baker on TLC.
Man of the Year – Rick Jaynes, Jaynes Memorial Chapel owner and Duncanville ISD parent, received one of the two highest honors of the evening. Rick (second to left) is pictured here with his wife Laura, daughter Candace (DHS 2010), and son Preston (DHS ninth grader).
Woman of the Year – Dotti Pennebaker, former Duncanville ISD substitute teacher, received one of the highest honors of the evening. Dotti is pictured here with DHS graduate Mike Puentes.
Also honored during the event was DHS graduate Del Ramirez, owner of The Computer Guys. Del is married to Acton Elementary teacher Sara Ramirez. He was nominated for Newcomer of the Year and Chamber Member of the Year awards.
