Early Act First Knight Program

The Early Act First Knight (EAFK) Program, made possible by a partnership with the Duncanville Rotary Club, was started two years ago at Central Elementary School. The program, which is the only one of its kind in North Texas, has expanded this year to include additional schools in the district. The purpose of EAFK is to teach students in grades Kindergarten through eight the knightly virtues and Rotarian values of tolerance, responsibility, confidence, perseverance, discipline, respect, honesty, compassion, friendliness, and service.

Each month, different virtues are studied in class, and then a knighting ceremony is held to recognize those students who best display these attributes. Central Elementary held a ceremony on November 13 to award students who have demonstrated confidence and perseverance. The school auditorium was transformed into a medieval banquet hall, and honorees were awarded medallions and certificates. Parents were invited to participate by placing symbolic tunics on their children. To see photos from different EAFK ceremonies in the district, visit the DISD SmugMug gallery here.
