How do I know what classes my daughter can or needs to take?

  4. Kim Mosley says:

Is the district offering Summer School for elementary students? If so will you accept an out-of-district student (she attended a charter school)?

If not do you have any recommendations on where an elementary student can go? I have a child that will fail 3rd grade if they cannot attend Summer School.

      Kim,

Yes the district is offering Summer School for elementary students. However, out-of-district students can not take Summer School classes through Duncanville ISD. I would contact the charter school that your child is attending.

How do you know if you need summer school or not? I haven’t had my final report card sent to me yet

    • admin says:

If you need to take Summer school, you should have gotten something from the school indicating this. You can always contact the school to be sure.

  6. Cristal lozano says:

Dawn, We are not offering the traditional Summer school classes. The Summer school classes we are offering include Credit Recovery grades 7-12, Pre-K Bilingual, Extended School Year (provides instructions for students with disabilities), GATE Camp, Inspiration Camp, and Career Connect Camp

Hello, My children will be new to this District this year, I need to know the best time to enroll them? I have a 4 year old I am trying to get into Pre-K, a 5 Year old that needs to be enrolled in Kinder and a 10 Year old that will be going to 6th grade.

    Thanks,

    Erica

  9. Bea says:

How do we get the EOC (Starr) scores . My child received a letter from Duncanville that stated she did not meet the passing standard. I thought the standards had not been set .

  10. Tamekia Warren says:

Hello…are students able to pass from 7th Grade to 8th Grade w/o passing Math?

    • admin says:

@Tamekia, your student’s report card should say if the student was retained (will be held back a year) or promoted (will go on to the next grade level). Also, if the student needs to take summer school because they did not pass you would have been notified. If you are still uncertain, you can call your child’s school to confirm if he/she will go on to the next grade.

  11. Student says:

Do you have to wear regular dress code to summer school

    • admin says:

@Student, yes the same dress code that is in place during the regular school year is followed for all summer school offerings including credit recovery. Thanks for the question.

  12. Michael says:

Is there a dress code for credit recovery?

    • admin says:

@Michael, yes the same dress code that is in place during the regular school year is followed for all summer school offerings including credit recovery. Thanks for the question.

  13. Debbie Leonard says:

I received a letter in the mail that my child did not pass one or more of the EOCs. We were out of town last week and did not get the letter until last night. I have called the high school twice this morning and left messages to try and figure out what he did not pass and to get more info on summer school and no one has called me back. I need to know what the next steps are so we can get started.

    • admin says:

@Debbie, sorry for the difficulty. The End of Course (EOC) tutoring session enrollment is currently taking place onsite at Duncanville High School in the main entrance. The tutoring session is not required. The district is offering the EOC tutoring to students who would like the additional assistance from a teacher before taking the STAAR EOC re-test later this summer (July 9).

The EOC Tutoring sessions filled up quickly so the high school has started a waiting list as they prepare to open additonal sessions. To be placed on the EOC Tutoring Session wait list you must go to the high school and complete enrollment for the session in person. The high school student can do this on their own without a parent or the parent can do it for the student. To sign up for the EOC Tutoring Wait List go to Duncanville High School now through Wednesday between the hours of 8:00am-3:30pm. You should be able to learn more about your student’s test results when you enroll in the tutoring session. The district did not have final STAAR EOC results until June 8 so the letter sent about the tutoirng sessions was sent based on preliminary results. We do not release preliminary results because they can change. The district is currently working to upload final STAAR EOC results for our ninth grade students to Home Access Center. Parents will have the ability to view their student’s results once this is done. We hope this information is helpful.

My child’s report card only shows he received 0.5 credits for some of his core classes. He passed all classes for the year, why isn’t this showing on his report card? How do i know if he needs summer school?

    • admin says:

@VMartinez, We are making the assumption that your student is at Duncanville High School. Semster courses are 0.5 credits and full year courses are 1 credit. The courses that list 0.5 credits more than likely are semester classes. If that is the case, your student received full credit for that class. We hope this is helpful.

I’m interested in the credit recovery program for Algebra !. We need the second semester to be retaken. We have passed the EOC test for the year. I was told that you do not have to come to all the weeks mentioned for the class. Is that correct? There are 2 or 3 weeks left that we can still come if that is possible.
Please clarify this for us. Thank you very much.

  18. Ms. Williams says:

I was told by my son there was no summer school for the week of, July 2,2012 – July 6,2012… Is this correct?

  20. Rebecca says:

    Hi,

My daughter had a physical done with the form provided by the school. Can we turn this in during the summer before school starts? I want to ensure she is accepted for playing certain sports? She will be going to Byrd (7th grade).

    • admin says:

      Rebecca,

All physical forms need to be turned in to the DHS Athletic Office or DHS Training Room located on the DHS Campus (900 W Camp Wisdom), located on the north side of Panther Football Stadium.
